Soul Roastery, Chuncheon: Coffee Under 500 Century-Old Pine Trees
📍 Gangwon / Chuncheon · Toward Soyang Dam · by car or taxi
This visit was sponsored by Soul Roastery. As always, all opinions are my own.
I used to think “healing café” was an exaggeration. Then I visited Soul Roastery in Dongmyeon, Chuncheon, and finally understood it. You drink your coffee under 100-year-old pine trees, with gentle music playing through the forest. It truly feels like sitting in the woods.

On the way to Soyang Dam
Driving from downtown Chuncheon toward Soyang Dam, you will see it on your right. Pine trees crowd the entrance, and the buildings sit tucked into the forest. Parking lots 1, 2 and 3 are right next to the café with over 400 spaces, so even weekends are easy.

A forest of 500 pine trees
The scale is enormous. The site is about 8,000 pyeong (roughly 26,000 m²), with around 500 century-old pines. Tables are scattered between the trees, and when you sit down, the pines stretch high above your head. I have been to many cafés in Chuncheon, but never one like this.

The music makes it
Soft music plays across the forest at just the right volume, so it never gets in the way of conversation. With a coffee in hand, time slips away.

They roast their own beans
The roasting machine sits inside the café, and they roast to bring out each bean’s character.

- Coffee: classic, aqua or decaf Americano ₩7,000 · café latte or oat latte ₩7,500
- Tea: Earl Grey, peppermint, yuja (citron), organic omija, Jeju cheonhyehyang citrus, peach iced tea, chamomile ₩7,000 each
- Signatures: corn coffee (iced only), Vietnamese condensed-milk coffee, strawberry latte, apple vin chaud, yuja mint tea, purple sweet potato latte
- Bottled: Soul Drip 500 ml ₩10,000 · Soul Cold Brew 500 ml ₩12,000

The corn coffee is their bestseller, and you can buy it in cans too.

A huge bakery
There is a big separate bakery section with freshly baked breads, strawberry tarts, sandwiches, loaves and a showcase of cake slices. It is worth a visit for the bakery alone.

Soul Roastery BLACK: the new indoor space
Further in, there is a newly built space with chandeliers and leather sofas. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring the pine forest inside. On cold days, this is where you will want to sit.

We ordered and carried our tray out under the trees. The house-roasted coffee had a rich aroma, and drinking it in the forest made it taste twice as good.

Zoapik’s verdict
– About 26,000 m² with 500 century-old pines: coffee in a forest – House-roasted specialty coffee; Americano ₩7,000 – Gentle music across the grounds; a very calm atmosphere – Big bakery with lots of breads and cake slices – New indoor space (BLACK) with forest views – Free parking for 400+ cars – 20% off made drinks with a same-day receipt from Todam Charcoal Dakgalbi – Heads-up: no pets, and opening hours differ by building
It fits perfectly into a Soyang Dam drive. Next time I want to come on a warm day and sit outside for hours.
