Daytique Coffee, Yeongdeungpo: A Chandelier Café with My All-Time Favorite Salt Bread
📍 Seoul / Yeongdeungpo
I have found a café in Yeongdeungpo that I want to keep going back to. Head up to the 2nd floor and a chandelier welcomes you — and the salt bread here is the best I have ever had. The coffee is great too, so I think I will be a regular.

It is on the 2nd floor — take the elevator
A large sign hangs at the ground-floor entrance, with a note that the café is on the 2nd floor of the Santa Monica building. Use the dedicated entrance and take the elevator up; the DAYTIQUE COFFEE 2F sign greets you as the doors open. It is easy to walk past if you only look at street level, so remember to look up.

Chandeliers and antiques
Open the door and the chandeliers on the ceiling catch your eye first, spreading warm light across the room. There are herringbone wood floors, antique furniture, window seats with light filtering through the blinds, a marble-table section and leather sofas that look like the comfiest spot. Gold-framed pictures line the walls. It is new, so everything is spotless.

A showcase full of cakes
The ordering counter is one long showcase of breads and cakes — a chocolate cake topped with cherries, fig tart, Basque cheesecake and more. Cakes come out fresh at 11:30 and 16:00, so time your visit if you want the full selection.

What I ordered
### Signature cream coffee (₩6,500) Nutty cream topped with a dusting of cocoa. Taste the cream with a spoon first — it is incredibly smooth — then mix it into the coffee for a rich, nutty flavor. The coffee alone is worth the visit.

Americano (₩5,000)
Low acidity and full-bodied, which pairs perfectly with the bread.
Salt bread (₩2,800) — my all-time favorite
This is what I most want to tell you about. Tear it open and you see layer after layer; the crust is crisp and full of butter, the outside slightly chewy and the inside moist. For ₩2,800, the quality is remarkable. I came for the coffee and will be back for the bread.

Little touches
The restroom, right next to the counter, is stocked with sanitary products and even disposable toothbrushes — rare to see. There is Wi-Fi (scan the QR code) and plenty of seating, so it works for a laptop session too.

Zoapik’s verdict
