MeiTaWang Egg Tart, Seongsu: The Giant Salted Egg Tart (Line, Price and How to Store It)

📍 Seoul / Seongsu · Seongsu Stn. (Line 2) Exit 4

Seongsu gets a new dessert spot almost every time I visit, so it is hard to decide what to eat. But a shop that has been loved for eight years selling only one thing? I could not walk past that. I took one bite of MeiTaWang’s egg tart and thought, “Ah, this is why it is famous.”

Finding it

From Seongsu Station Exit 4, it is a short walk. The shop is right across from a gamjatang (pork-bone stew) restaurant called Seongsu-dong Somunnan Gamjatang, so it is easy to spot. Honestly, you will probably smell it first — the scent of baking tarts drifts out to the street and your feet just stop.

The line

There was a line when I went, but it moved fast. With only one item on the menu, ordering takes seconds. There is a clear IN and OUT rope line, so just follow it.

This is a takeout-only shop, so there is no place to sit and stay. Grab one to eat right away while walking around Seongsu, or take a box home.

Why people love it

The salted egg tart has been their bestseller for eight years. Here is what they say they use:

  • 100% natural ingredients
  • Vanilla beans ground in-house
  • Antibiotic-free eggs
  • Fresh tarts baked every morning, then made in batches through the day

Menu and price

The menu is very simple. No drinks, no other pastries — just egg tarts.

  • Egg tart, one piece: ₩5,400
  • 3 tarts + gift box + shopping bag at a promo price

For the gift set, my notes say ₩15,900 (down from ₩17,200), but the sign in my photo shows ₩17,400 (down from ₩19,600). Promo prices change, so check the sign at the counter. Either way, lots of people were buying boxes as gifts.

My honest review

I will be honest: when I saw ₩5,400 for one egg tart, I hesitated a little. But the moment it was in my hand, I changed my mind.

First, the size. It is about three to four times bigger than a regular egg tart and weighs 150 g. You feel it the second you pick it up.

The pastry is thick and crispy. It is baked directly in the pan, without a foil cup, so the crust really holds its texture. Then you bite in, and the egg filling is so soft. They use 100% natural butter, premium French milk cream and antibiotic-free eggs, and there is zero eggy smell — just a clean, nutty egg flavor.

The secret is the salt sprinkled on top. The sweetness builds up, and then a little salty hit at the end balances everything. Sweet and salty, perfect. Eaten warm, the inside melts, and it is surprisingly filling for a dessert.

₩5,400 is not cheap, but for this size and quality, I think it is fair value.

How to store and reheat

– Best eaten the same day – Keep it in the fridge for about one day – Reheat in an air fryer at 160°C for 3–5 minutes, or an oven at 160–170°C for about 5 minutes – Skip the microwave — the pastry goes soggy – Do not freeze it; the crust loses its texture

Tips from someone who ate it

– One tart is big enough for two to share – It goes perfectly with an americano – If you do not like rich desserts, it might feel a bit heavy

Personally, I prefer egg tarts with a strong cream-cheese taste over a rich egg flavor, so it was not 100% my style. But I have made egg tarts myself, and getting this balance right is not easy. That is why it stayed with me.

Zoapik’s verdict

– One of the best egg tarts in Seongsu – Huge 150 g tart with a thick, crispy crust – Soft, clean custard with a pinch of salt on top – The line moves fast because there is only one item – Gift box set — an easy souvenir for friends – Short walk from Seongsu Station Exit 4 – Heads-up: takeout only, and it can feel rich if you are not a fan of creamy desserts

If you are shopping in Seongsu, grab one and share it. Egg tart lovers, this is a must-try at least once.
